Are you certain you can make all the connections? If you can, the only reasons I could think of going another way was if you could find another DVD player for cheaper or if you knew you were never going to buy an HDTV.
I'm using the RCA connectors right now. I didn't think to check that though. This is for the extra TV that would not be replaced by an HDTV anytime soon.
